  47. Aces Go Places series;  a fair amount of T&A stills of starlets
  48. and rough 'n tough shots of hard guys; and tons of reviews. By

  50. *the* tourbook to your local asian video store. Get it. Now.

  60.          publication for those who like some intellectualism in their
  61.          film comment.
  62. There are so many meaty articles in this issue it's hard to know
  63. where to start. How about C. Jerry Kutner's "Good Dog, Bad Dog,"
  64. about the evil hidden motifs in Disney's *Old Yeller.* Or
  65. informative production notes on Tod Browning's *Freaks.* Then
  66. there's Jack Foley's exploration of Friedkin's *Cruising.*
  67. Looking for information on recent movies? Judith Halberstam
  68. abhors *Bram Stoker's Dracula* and gives one half of the "2 Views
  69. of Jurassic Park." Of course, you'll also have to read "*The
  70. Crying Game* and *Vertigo,*: The Quest for Identity" by Peter N.
  71. Chumo. This issue's cover features a beautiful image of the Bride
  72. of Frankenstein, perfect for this, *Bright Lights'* Sex and
  73. Horror issue.

  86. OK, I was waaaay wrong.  Bruce Campbell has been in over a dozen
  87. movies, AND the new TV show.  The first part of his filmography
  88. is included in this issue of BOAS.  More than just any old
  89. filmography, Tyler seems to have a lot of access to Mr. Campbell,
  90. as she gets him to comment on these films.  There seems to be a
  91. growing legion of fans, as BOAS has gone *slick*!  Glossy paper,
  92. neat-o fonts and half-toned pictures.   And all you Bruce
  93. fanatics can send in your questions to Tyler, and she'll ask Mr.
  94. Campbell about what is on *your* mind.

  105.          Exploitation* into this new format called *Cult Characters*.
  106.          From what I remember, this looks much like the other zine
  107.          with detailed biographies and film histories of unsung film
  108.          luminaries.
  109. The fist issue has bios and film/TV listings for R.G. Armstrong
  110. Asher Brauner, Luke Askew, Neville Brand, and Reb Brown. The
  111. second one covers Tony Burton, Robert Davi, David Carradine,
  112. Christopher Connelly, and Charles Direkop.
  113. The research looks really complete, so if you're serious about
  114. your B-movies check this out.

  183.          reviews actually do have some degree of sophistication.

  185. Home with Claude.* The good stuff includes Film Forum's Annual
  186. SUmmer Festival of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, and Genre
  187. Films (including two weeks of Val Lewton films), plus *Fortress,*
  188. a Jessica Harper appreciation/rant, the Deuce moves to Murray
  189. Hill, and guest reviews by dymon enlow.

  205. that run the FCC. He's also exploring the underground films from
  206. Nick Zedd and others.

  234. collecting, and reviews of 15 recently released classic horror
  235. films.

  267. into the murky world of slash fiction.

  279.          This terribly ambitious magazine out of Scotland is not to
  280.          be confused with the American publication of the same name.
  281.          Publisher McLachlan promises that "each quarterly edition
  282.          will publish at least fifty (!) reviews of horror, SF and
  283.          fantasy movies.
  284. And judging from the first issue, these reviews are not
  285. thumbnails, either -- the *Reanimator* review is more than a page
  286. long, and gives background, influences, acting notes, and F/X
  287. notes, among other things. This issue goes into similar detail on
  288. films from *Basket Case* to *Suspiria* to *Henry -- Portrait of a
  289. Serial Killer* to *Gonks Go Beat.* The $7.95 price tag (includes
  290. postage from Scotland) might sound pricey at first, but the
  291. quality and quantity of reviews herein make it worth every penny.

  306. Gabai of *Assault of the Party Nerds,* in which his discusses the
  307. upcoming sequel; and director and former Sam Raimi collaborator
  308. J.R. Bookwalter. Look for the *Fingered* review and interview
  309. with director Richard Kern.

  376.          Japanese monster movies and related collectables. It's all
  377.          here: Kaiju art, movie reviews, model reviews, collecting
  378.          tips, lobby cards, and related news. Don't look for info on
  379.          Anime here, these's guys are serious monter fanatics.
  380. There's news of new movies being produced in Japan, an analysis
  381. of the various formats used for Japanese films, a really
  382. informative article with tips for beginning Kaiju model
  383. collecting, a serious exploration into Godzilla's height over the
  384. years, the history of Godzilla movie promotions, and examples of
  385. the art of Ron Wilber.

  409.          Comments from Dave and his readers about Horror/Science
  410.          Fiction and related films. There's also interesting
  411.          commentary about a variety of other subjects.
  412. In addition to the many reviews there's a really fine true story
  413. about growing up in Detroit and hanging out with the wrong kind
  414. of people.
  415. I really liked this one and there may still be a few copies left,
  416. dispite it's age.

  430. of recent independent filmaking, and interviews with artist Tom
  431. Watkins and the band Uncle Wiggly.
